I started up Snowbowl from the steeper trail just before the entrance (boot it, skinning does not work I tried). It sucked; it was very icy and hard to get a good hold on the tip of your boot. After a couple breaks, I made it to the trail. There was a nice pack on the skin trail up. I made it up the first knoll and looked back and there was a guy traversing very fast and gaining on me. Of course, I tried to go faster than him, but every time I looked back he was closer. Eventually, he was next to me. We stopped to talk for a bit, and he mentioned the 14 Degree angle. The 14 Degree angle means, if you go at that degree then you do not get as tired as going straight up and can skin uphill for much longer. After that conversation I continued up the mountain at a 14ish Degree Angle up to the top (it really works, I highly recommend trying it).

On the way up, the snow was very, very crusty, like dried semen. Those looking for POW would see that and decide fuck that, let us look elsewhere. I decided to adventure off towards my hometown (the rocks). I skinned up to the ski patrol sled shelter where I took a hard left.

As I made my way up to the rocks, or cliffs as some call it, they were gorgeous. Slightly uncovered, but definitely skiable. I proceeded down the left side of the rocks, a couple jumps along the way to where I got very stuck. I looked down and all I could see was log after log. I hiked up a couple yards and saw a line I was going to take. In this time, I found some fellow friends in the woods. I asked them what they were doing here, and they proceeded to look at me, like "what are you doing here?". They were a family of deer, traveling where there is usually nobody there. After I talked to them, I found a trail. It was perfect, untouched lucious POW. "I ripped the shit out of it", as Shane McConkey would say. Eventually, I found other skier tracks and the snow was less pristine, but still plenty of powder to enjoy. I definitely recommend skiing the trail under the rocks as most people do not get that far over.

Have fun and be safe out there! Especially at Snowbowl, there are many large fallen trees. If you encounter them, lean back, tips up, and you should be able to glide over them with some speed. Get out and ski the POW! - Will
